Locus Standi
The AI workspace for Indian legal practice - plain-English case search, case-file analysis, drafting inside Word, and an Insolvency Copilot for IBC matters.
The client
Locus Standi is a product of Docuswift Solutions LLP: an AI workspace built for Indian lawyers and firms. Its tagline is “Research, analyse, draft.” It lets a practitioner search judgments in plain English, chat with uploaded case files, draft inside Microsoft Word, and run end-to-end insolvency matters with what it calls India’s first Insolvency Copilot. Partners listed on the site include Microsoft for Startups and the NVIDIA Inception Program. Plans run from a student tier through Lite, Basic, Professional and Power to an NCLT Pack, priced in rupees, with a free trial.
What we built
The product began life as DocuSwift AI, a full-stack web application we built for two lawyers managing high volumes of documents. That first version - document management, auto-generated case summaries, AI-assisted research - went from first conversation to working product in three weeks. We have supported and extended it for more than twelve months since, and it became Locus Standi.
Today the platform includes:
- Case Search - plain-English queries over judgments, ranked results, save to a Casebook.
- Case Analysis - chat with uploaded case files, one-click Word summaries.
- Drafting via a Microsoft Word add-in - templates, AI drafting, insert annexures, insert list of dates, all inside the document.
- Insolvency Copilot for IBC / NCLT workflows.
- Role-based access and document versioning, with private documents encrypted at rest and never used for training - stated on the page because clients ask.
- Login, scheduling a demo, a pricing ladder and the surrounding marketing site.
How it was built
Next.js on the front end and Node.js on the back end, Tailwind CSS for the interface, the ChatGPT API for document analysis, and a custom Word plugin so the AI appears where lawyers actually draft. Deployed on Azure. The interface was designed to need minimal training, which mattered for a user base that spans students to senior practitioners.
